Apple may ship only 20 million iPhone X units this year, pre-orders in India from Oct 27
Apple’s most anticipated iPhone of this year aka iPhone X, the tenth anniversary edition phone is set to go on pre-orders in India starting October 27.
Ahead of the pre-orders, iPhone X is seen listed on the e-commerce platform, Flipkart. The pre-orders for iPhone X is scheduled to start at 12:31PM on Oct 27, after which the device will go on sale on November 2 .
iPhone X will be available in silver and space gray colour options. iPhone X will also be available on company’s e-store.
iPhone X is launched in two variant, one with 64GB of internal storage, while the second model – which is the top-end edition of the iPhone X comes with 256GB storage.
The 64GB variant of the iPhone X will be priced at Rs 89,000 in India, while the 256GB model will cost Rs 102,000.
Going by a latest report by Nikkei Asian Review, Apple is likely to ship almost half the number of iPhone X units than the company originally planned for this year.
The report notes that apple may ship only 20 million iPhone X devices this year. The reason behind the reduction in units is due to some technical glitches that iPhone X is apparently facing surrounding its face authentication feature.
Apple is reportedly manufacturing around 10 million iPhone X units every month. On the other hand, Apple is said to be in negotiations for additional production for some parts of the device.
iPhone X: Rs 89,000
But then it is noteworthy that Apple hasn’t revealed any authenticated information on the same yet.
However, if at all Apple really sells only 20 million iPhone X devices this year, there surely will be a major drop in sales. To recall, Apple sold around 13 million iPhone 6S and 6S Plus units in its first weekend.
The iPhone X is powered by Apple’s own A11 processor which has six cores. Two of these cores are high-performance cores.
They are up to 25 per cent faster than the high-performance core in the A10, which powers the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus, says Apple.
iPhone X comes with 5.8-inch resolution of 2436X1125 pixels and uses OLED panels. In the imaging department, the device features 12-megapixel shooter with dual-tone flash at the rear side. This is one camera.
There is a second camera too in the iPhone X. This one uses a telephoto lens with F2.4 aperture. While the front camera includes 7-megapixel sensor which comes coupled with F2.2 lens. iPhone X runs on the latest iOS 11 software and comes with a feature called Face ID which will allow users to unlock their devices by scanning their face.
