Yoga is the way to freedom. By its constant practice we can free ourselves from fear, anguish and loneliness. It is the way that brings us into the present moment, the place where life exists. It is a science of well being, youthfulness and integrating body, mind and soul

This third edition of yoga day held on 21st June started with early morning rains in Lucknow and Delhi. Although, it did not dampen the spirits of yoga enthusiasts. Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adinath   performed various asanas at Ramabai rally ground in Lucknow. This day was observed by organizing various yoga camps at schools, colleges and offices all over the country.

Lakhs of people across the world and various time zones rolled out their mats to perform some twists and stretches. The main celebrations took place in Lucknow where PM Modi joined around 51,000 people performing yoga. PM Modi spoke about the importance of ancient practice in yoga and stated

“MANY COUNTRIES WHICH DO NOT KNOW ABOUT OUR LANGUAGE, CULTURE AND TRADITION ARE NOW CONNECTING TO INDIA THROUGH YOGA. THIS PRACTICE THAT BINDS BODY, MIND AND SOUL IS ALSO HELPING TO BIND US TO THE WORLD”

 

In Gujarat (Ahmedabad), nearly 3 lakh people turned up at the GMDC ground to set a new world record. It was led by Baba Ramdev. He expressed his happiness by saying that it was an important day for him as it was a new record as compared to previous year by a huge margin.

The Indian navy and Coast Guard personnel also celebrated yoga day on the deck of INS Viraat in Mumbai’s naval dock yard. ‘Yog shivir ‘were conducted by various units of the Indian Army and the Indian Air force.

In Himachal Pradesh Yoga day was celebrated at the courtyard in Hamirpur district which was presided by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. He addressed the people saying that yoga can transform human mind and body. He also praised PM Modi for his endless efforts. It was a successful and a healthy day in everyone’s life.

YOGA IS TO BE PRACTICED IN A SUBTLE AND GENTLE WAY.
