Oscar award winner Resul Pookutty all set to make his grand debut on the big screen
Oscar award-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty, who is currently working on India’s most expensive project 2.0 directed by Shankar, is all set to don the greasepaint for the first time. Titled ‘Oru Kadhai Sollattumaa,’ the film will be directed by Prasad Prabhakaran and will feature Resul in the role of a sound designer who wants to capture all the specific sounds in the world famous Thrissur Pooram festival. The project will be bankrolled by produced by Rajeev Panakal of Palm Stone Multimedia.
Director Prasad Prabhakaran said it’s a never-before-attempted concept. “Pooram festival in Thrissur is the biggest festival in the universe, attended by a million people every year. This festival happens for seven days in total. There are thousands of artists playing hundreds of instruments in the event, and the atmosphere will be absolutely electric and magical. It has been Resul Pookutty’s real-life dream to record the sounds of Pooram live,” said Prasad in an official statement.
The film revolves around an inquisitive and determined sound designer who wants to record all the fascinating sounds of the festival in his mike. “I’m so proud Resul Pookutty chose this script to make his acting debut. Capturing the entire festival visually for a movie’s purpose was an enormous challenge. We started our meticulous planning and preparations four months before the shoot itself,” added director Prasad.
Over 80 technicians from Hollywood and Bollywood have worked on the project, capturing 300 live performing artists using 22 cameras. Director Prasad assures that the sounds and the narration will convey the festival’s moods and story so brilliantly.
Rahul Raj has composed the music and national award-winning lyricist Vairamuthu has penned the lyrics. The film, whose audio rights have been bagged by Sony Music India, has been made in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, and Hindi. The songs of the film have been recorded in AR Rahman’s studio in Chennai.
